Verizon added 153,000 FiOS TV and FiOS data subscribers each in Q4 09, figures that were below analysts expectations, and the lowest amount of net additions in both categories in more than two years.
A year ago, FiOS TV and data additions were 303,000 and 282,000, respectively.
The video additions gave Verizon 943,000 new TV subscribers for all of 2009, a bit below the one million the company projected earlier in the year. And with 800,000 new homes added to the homes marketed total, Verizon's video penetration actually dropped sequentially, from 24.9% to 24.5% (11.7 million homes marketed.)
Verizon now counts 2.86 million FiOS TV subscribers.
The 153,000 data additions now give FiOS 3.4 million data customers, and a 28.1% penetration rate across 12.2 million homes marketed.
FiOS ARPU reached $140 in the quarter. Total consumer ARPU roses 12.6% to $77.06.
The company lost 107,000 DSL subscribers in the quarter, compared to a loss of 68,000 a year ago. Total FiOS and DSL additions of 46,000 were down from Q3 09's gain of 63,000 and 214,000 a year ago.
Primary landline losses reached 461,000, about the same as last year's loss of 460,000, and down slightly from Q3 09's loss of 473,000 lines.
